Melissa’s Closet Melissa Walsh was a driven young woman, who was passionate about her family and friends. She loved printed pajamas, country music, shopping and dancing with her sisters. Melissa especially enjoyed the excitement of dressing up for proms, weddings and special occasions. Melissa earned her Masters degree in physical therapy at Clarkson University, and was devoted to helping others. To that end, Melissa’s family has established “Melissa’s Closet” which will ensure that all high schools girls in Northern New York have dresses to attend their proms, regardless of financial or family circumstances. Melissa’s Closet will be having its 2nd annual dress distribution this April in Massena. We will be collecting new and dry cleaned dresses. Dresses can be dry cleaned and delivered to Cornell’s Dry Cleaning free of charge. 2010 Prom Season was another huge success with 245 dresses distributed! 2009 Prom Season:
Melissa’s Closet distributed 225 dresses to 25 school district within 5 counties in our first year. Thank you to everyone who made that possible. DONATIONS! We are always accepting prom dresses for donations. Keep those dresses coming! They can be delivered to any Cornell’s location.
